marine weather discussion for gulf of mexico ... caribbean sea and
southwest north atlc s of 31n w of 55w
weakening cold front in the gulf of mexico extends from florida
big bent to 24n89w then stationary to 21n95w. the front will
move e and dissipate late tonight or early mon. winds will also
decrease with the front tonight. next cold front associated with
the strong middle latitude trough will move off the texas coast
tue and reach from florida panhandle to western bay of campeche
wed and from central florida to yucatan peninsula thu and then
move e of the ara fri. winds will be 20 to 25 kts behind the
front and up to 30 kt in the sw gulf west of this front.
weak high pres builds across the area tonight through wed.
rather light winds will remain through wed. sly winds increase
over the western portion of the area ahead
of an approaching cold front thu. the front moves offshore late
thu and extends from 31n71w to central cuba fri. sly winds 20 - 25
kt n of 26n e of front fri with nly winds 20 - 25 kt and seas to
10 ft w of the front.
trades of 20 kt or more are confined to s of 17n east of 80w
with winds up to 30 kt near the coast of colombia through tue.
the winds will then weaken some wed with the trades below 20 kt
on thu and fri as the above mentioned front weakens the ridge n
of the area. cold front will move into the nw caribbean thu
night and extend from central cuba to honduras fri. nly winds
increase to 20 - 25 kt nw of the front ... with seas building to 10
ft.
