northeast illinois and northwest indiana.

periods of snow, heavy at times. storm total snow accumulation
will be 6 to 10 inches by late tonight. there will be blowing and
drifting of snow with occasional near blizzard conditions
possible.
portions of the fox river will remain in flood.
.days two through seven, wednesday through monday.
there will be considerable blowing snow early wednesday morning.

a winter storm warning remains in effect until 9 am cst
wednesday.
* timing, snow will continue through the evening before ending
late tonight. considerable blowing and drifting of the freshly fallen
snow is likely tonight into very early wednesday morning.
* accumulations, light to occasionally moderate snow will result
in snowfall rates of generally a half inch or less per hour. the
long duration of the storm will result in snowfall totals
reaching 6 to 10 inches by this evening.
* hazards, in addition to the long duration accumulating
snowfall, northwest winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph with
gusts between 30 and 35 mph tonight into early wednesday
morning resulting in significant blowing and drifting snow.
the potential exists for near white out conditions to develop
in open and rural areas tonight.
* impacts, travel will continue to be significantly hampered
during the snow storm through tonight. due to the long
duration of light to moderate snowfall even major roads and
highways may become snow covered. blowing and drifting snow
tonight will result in near ground blizzard conditions in
outlying areas making travel very dangerous.
